NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TENTATIVE ASSESSMENT ROLL

(Pursuant to Section 506 and 526 of the Real Property Tax Law)

 

Hearing of Complaints

 

Notice is hereby given that the Sole Assessor of the Town of Greenwich County of Washington, has completed the TENTATIVE ASESSMENT ROLL, for the current year, and that a copy has been left with the town clerk at Greenwich Town Hall, where it may be seen, examined by any interested person until the fourth Tuesday in May.

 

The Assessor will be in attendance with the tentative assessment roll on

May 12th between 2-4pm and 6-8pm

May 16th between 9-1-pm

May 19th between 9-1pm

May 21th between 9-1pm

 

            The Board of Assessment Review will meet on Wednesday, May 27th, 2020 between the hours of 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Greenwich Town Hall, 2 Academy Street, in said town, to hear and examine all complaints in relation to assessments, on the written application of any person believing himself to be aggrieved.

            Copies of a publication describing procedures for contesting an assessment are available at the Assessor’s office or online at www.tax.ny.gov.

The Assessor is responsible for placing an assessment on each parcel of land and all real property in the town for the purpose of equalization of the tax base.  The Town Assessor administers the assessment roll in accordance with the NYS Real Property Tax Law and Rules and Regulations promulgated by the State Board of Real Property Services.

 

The Assessor maintains an inventory of all parcels in the Town in order to establish an assessed value for the equitable distribution of property taxes. Assessments are made at 100% of the market value and assessment rolls are filed in accordance with the assessment calendar.  The assessment roll and property inventory data is maintained using the Real Property System (RPS V4) developed by the NYS Office of Real Property Tax Services.  The Town Assessor is appointed by the Town Board and must be qualified as required by the NYS Real Property Tax Law.

 

In accordance with rules and regulations set forth in NYS Real Property Tax Law, the Town participates in the annual reassessment program.
