On November 6,2004 an historic marker was dedicated in Mowry Park, commemorating the history of the Underground Railroad. Greenwich was an important stop for slaves fleeing to Canada.

The marker shows locations of existing homes that played an important role in the Underground Railroad. All locations are within an easy walk of Mowry Park.
